"Publishing a book is like being pregnant. By the end, you're just ready to get that baby out!"

Yep, I'm the one who said that…every time I publish a book.

But also, a million other things run through my mind as I'm heading to the ER…I mean, while I'm waiting for my book to launch.


I haven't been around as long as Nicholas Sparks or Nora Roberts, but this isn't my first rodeo either. 5 Prince Publishing just released my ninth book.

And I can't help but sit here and wonder…

Am I good enough?
Will this one turn out okay?
Do I have what it takes to send my baby out into the world?
Will my baby make it in the big ol’ world?
And a million other questions plague my mind…

But again, just like being pregnant, it doesn't matter. It’s time for that baby to come out! And no matter how much preparation I've put into its arrival, no matter how many times I've done it before, when the day comes, I'm scared to death.

Creatus Rogue is book two in my  paranormal romantic-suspense series Creatus. Book one was a bestseller in a few weeks, so this should be easy, right?

Not so fast, tiger.
A first bestseller doesn't equate to a second hit. 


But sometimes, you just have to push that baby out into the great big book world.

    Oh, I wish, Sherri! Sadly, just like having babies, the birthing isn't always the hardest part, even if it feels like it for a few hours...months...

    The hardest part is taking care of your baby until it can eat and walk on its own. :)

    And of course, I have two more projects already in the works. There is simply no down time for an author, but I'm really going to try to take a 'real' vacation before the end of the year. It's been a couple of years since I've been able to 'unplug', and I'm ready. :)

    Aw, good luck with the 'birth!' I just purchased your first baby to read and it sounds pretty darn good...

    I totally feel your pain at the moment. I am currently preparing for my fourth book release in September, but first I am awaiting the birth of my second child in July. I don't do things by halves!

    LOL, Catherine! And I'm so glad other authors understand my pain...well, not that I want you to feel pain, but content to know that I'm not alone.

    Thank you so much for downloading 'She Belongs to Me'. I hope you enjoy, as it really does feel like my baby. Lots of growing pains too, but she's walking pretty good finally and is able to take care of herself for the most part, which is good because my other babies need my attention.

To prologue or not to prologue, that is the question. Readers, please weigh in!

Personally, I love prologues. They get you right into the action whether it was in the past or something exciting that is to come. But that’s exactly why most agents’ blogs I’ve read say not to use them. Paraphrasing…“If you need a prologue, then your story must not be strong enough…” Hmm … well, I like them, and I use them. But I’m curious what readers think, and I’d love you to weigh in. AND, if you have some great examples, please leave the title in the comment section. Now … here’s what I’ve noticed. Plenty of bestselling books have used them, even though they aren’t always called prologues . Same diff in my opinion. My biggest example is ‘Twilight’. If that little blurb wasn’t in the beginning, I don’t think I would have made it through the first chapter. How about movies? I don’t watch a lot. But I’ve started to notice how many have “prologues”. I also don’t have cable, but I have NetFlix, and hubby has just started watching ‘Breaking Bad’. Okay … I
