Thank you for sharing with me via Twitter! <br /><br />Cicadas always remind me of camping or hiking through the woods, and several special vacations I've shared with my husband. I had to incorporate them in the story I wrote. Here's a small excerpt from my book, A Symphony of Cicadas. The main character has just found herself in the afterlife, and is now surrounded by the energy of the forest:<br /><br />"I could sense a sudden release in pressure as my voice shattered whatever was separating me from the rest of the forest. I was joined by a thousand cicadas, casting their deafening mating call in the trees as they, too, screamed for someone they loved. A flurry of birds broke out of the trees, creating a dark cloud in the sky. With each gust of wind, the cloud of birds above the forest rippled and shifted in shape, soaring and dipping through the sky in an ebony wave. I watched as the mass swirled above me. It was like a ghostly presence, the haunting movements of the birds growing and shrinking, becoming small before expanding to a large fog. The cloud above the forest grew darker and darker, pulsing in a hypnotic beat as if part of a dance. The hum of the cicadas around me mirrored the movements, keeping time with an urgency that ebbed and flowed."Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9119615232600399164.post-71533979016817100432012-04-01T18:55:36.536-04:002012-04-01T18:55:36.536-04:00Great writing, you put me there.Great writing, you put me there.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13487595361324166366noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9119615232600399164.post-58857962502412848052012-04-01T15:46:13.109-04:002012-04-01T15:46:13.109-04:00Awww...thank you, Ann.
