Disclaimer: For those of you who have read She Belongs to Me, you may have heard there’s a spin-off to the romantic-suspense bestseller. Though there aren’t any spoilers in this excerpt, if you haven't read the first novel, you can bypass and read more about it here. Also, if you’ve read my books, you know that I deal with a lot of real-life scenarios, some of which we don’t like, but they still exist. I do not, however, go into any graphic detail; I simply attempt for the reader to feel the character’s thoughts—good and bad. That said, welcome to the first eight sentences of Split Decisions.
Screaming, she hated it! She closed her eyes and covered her ears as she felt her body lifted in the air. Squinting through one eye, she could see her mother’s face; though, it blurred as it moved. The kitchen cabinets also seemed to move up and down as if doing jumping jacks.
What was happening?
A deep gasp caught her attention. Her father, he’d come back. “Put her down!” he ordered.
Split Decisions will be available this spring! So if you haven’t read She Belongs to Me, read on.
According to readers, the first novel, She Belongs to Me, is a sensual and gripping read that will have you falling in love and wondering if you can trust anyone right up to the last page.
After secrets and a mysterious background leave a wife’s life hanging by a thread, a husband must look for answers in the only place he knows—the past.

Kitchen cabinets doing jumping jacks...now that's an interesting visual!ReplyDelete
Thank your for commenting... I hope it makes sense, and that you caught the fact that a young child could not understand what was happening.Delete
It was the image that came into my mind...what a child might think as their mother shakes them. Again, it's sad to think that it happens to 3-y-o children, and I do keep the scene very short, as you saw the dad walks in. :(
Oh Carmen!!! I would have never thought eight sentences would make me beg for more...BUT begging I am!!! HURRY I so want to read this one!!! I can not wait. The way you tell a story is so gripping and has me in tears at times, yelling at the screen as I read, and even smiling and crying at the same time! Now that is TALENT in my opinion!!!ReplyDelete
LOL! That is what I like to hear, Terry! After all, my bio does say... "All of my novels are sensual, but not erotic, gripping but not graphic and will make you cry, laugh, love, and hope."Delete
I'm glad to see I'm doing my job, but I do apologize for the crying part, even though I know we all like a good cry once in a while. But...I try to always leave you with a smile. :)
Very tense scene, definitely makes me want to read more right away. Excellent excerpt!ReplyDelete
Thanks, Veronica! Hopefully all will go according to plan, and it'll be right on time. LOL!!! :)Delete
Wow ~ I can't wait to find out what's going on!ReplyDelete
Interesting! Lots of tension and unanswered questions in my mind. Mainly...what's going on? Does someone have a hold of her? Makes me want to keep reading.ReplyDelete
Sounds intriguing. I wonder what is really going on here, or what seems to be going on. I'll be back next week.ReplyDelete
