When you’re feeling down, ask a friend how she's doing. You’ll be surprised at how often you’ll feel better.

If you want to feel good about your day, ask a friend about hers. It may surprise you how good your life actually is.

Remember that old task that if you put all your problems in a hat and passed them around the room, you'd probably want yours back. I believe this is true. As bad as things can get, it seems as though we are equipped to handle our own problems. Even though we feel the world is picking on us; if we look around, we can usually say, "Well, at least I'm not in her shoes." Face it, there are some pretty bad situations out there.

A friend of mine has a daughter diagnosed with a form of cancer. When asked by others, “Why you?” She simply replies, “Why not me?”

I've been through a lot in my life, but somehow it's worse when it's your child doing the suffering. I certainly hope I can be as strong as she is if anything happens in my life even remotely close to her ordeal. I don’t know that I could, but I take strength in the idea that God will not allow anything that I cannot handle.

One of my favorite quotes is one I've read on T-shirts, posters, and coffee cups, and I've even used it in one of my novels, but I was amazed when I finally looked it up and saw who actually said it; maybe you will be too.

“I know God won't give me anything I can't handle. I just wish he didn't trust me so much.”
― Mother Teresa

Until next time, enjoy your day, my friends, knowing that you can always escape into a book.

  2. Love this! And it is so true! There are several times I have spoken with friends of mine, and they are in some pretty horrible situations. I never know what to say, other than "I am here for you and I love you". Sometimes that is all people need/want to hear.
    Have a Blessed Day!
