Book Description:
Ebony
is a smart, sexy, career-oriented black woman who wants nothing more than a
summer fling with a man who challenges her mind and body. What she doesn’t
expect is a blond haired, blue-eyed bass player—who won’t take “no” for an
answer—to accept the challenge.
When
Ebony’s attempt at a brief fling turns into more, despite negative reactions
from friends and family, she finds juggling love, family, and career are
nothing compared to the ultimate betrayal she endures. Now her dreams spiral
into lies and secrets that threaten her future and her best friend’s trust.
My Review for A Heart Not Easily Broken.
As always, I just tell you why I like. No spoilers—ever!
Love
is Colorblind
Besides
the romance, the tragedy, and the triumph, I think one of the things I love
most about M.J. Kane’s story is that the non-acceptance doesn’t come from where
you think it will.
What
we see in A Heart Not Easily Broken are two people with a mutual attraction
who are willing to give their relationship a try regardless of what onlookers or
even friends and family members think.
But
within any relationship, trouble is only a choice away. And when the thumps of
opportunity and trust come knocking on the door, Ebony and Brian’s relationship
will be put to the test.
A
brief excerpt M.J. agreed to share. I had two to pick from but I decided on
this one because I think it’ll make you say, “Grrrr…” It did me. Gotta love friends.
He
grabbed a bottle of water, gulped, and watched me. “Have you wondered why she’s
still with you? I mean, could dating you be an experiment? You know what I’m
saying? What if you got all wrapped up and found out she really wants to go
back to black?” His chest puffed out. “What if she used you as means to stay
busy while waiting for her dream man? I’m sure her parents will have a lot to
say about who she marries.” He gathered his towel and strolled back into the
house. When he reached the door, he paused. “You might want to see if she
cheated while you were gone.”
